    Tramlines is a native macOS app that lets you create an on-screen reading space that works for you.

    Tramlines provides a flexible set of tools to help you focus on your reading, including adjustable guides, focus areas, versatile dimming options and colour overlays.These tools sit above your PDFs, reports, Word documents, webpages, ebooks and other material without affecting the document underneath so you can continue to scroll, select text, highlight passages and add annotations as usual.Use as much or as little support as you need, whether you are studying, doing research or other work, or reading for pleasure.Its adjustable features may be particularly useful for people who find it hard to concentrate when reading, are sensitive to visual noise, or have
    ADHD or dyslexia.

    Flexible tools for easier reading

    Combine the following tools to create an on-screen reading space that works for you.Speed Reading Guides
    Use a horizontal line as a reading ruler or position vertical lines to guide your eyes as they skim across the page. Such guides support speed reading techniques that make greater use of peripheral vision and reduce backtracking: your eyes need to move less so reading feels quicker, more focused and less tiring.    Focus Bars
    Create a horizontal reading bar that stands out against dimming areas above and below. Scrolling moves the document through the bar allowing you to concentrate on one line or short section at a time, making it easier to stay focused on what you're reading.    Colour Overlays
    Apply a semi-transparent colour overlay across the screen and adjust its shade and intensity. Many readers find coloured overlays helpful to reduce visual stress, making reading feel more comfortable. Experiment with different colours to find out what feels good for you and helps keep you focussed when you're reading.    Screen Dimming Options
    Dim the whole screen or create a dedicated reading window while the rest of the screen remains dimmed. By reducing glare dimming makes reading easier on your eyes, while the reading window option allows you to use contrast to designate a focus area exactly where you want it.
    You can also combine the different tools to create your own reading setup.    Focus Timer
    The built-in Focus Timer provides a simple way to structure your reading, study or concentrated work. Choose from three modes:
    Countdown for a focus period of your chosen length.
    Count Up to keep a record of how long you have been working.

    except to install or update the app, or to make or restore a purchase.    Your preferences, such as guide positions, colours, dimming options and timer settings, are stored locally on your Mac. They are not uploaded to the cloud or sent to the developer.Apple services
    Downloads, purchases, updates and TestFlight beta testing are provided through Apple.

    Tramlines does not receive your payment details.    Website and support
    The Tramlines website does not use user accounts, contact forms, advertising trackers or visitor analytics.
    The website’s hosting provider may process limited technical information, such as IP addresses and server logs, where necessary to deliver and secure the site.
    When you contact Tramlines feedback or support, the message will contain your email address and any information you choose to provide. This information will be used only to respond to your enquiry, investigate a problem or consider your feedback.
